Dedral Treadwell is the author of the Omphalocele Hill trilogy, a middle-grade fantasy series inspired by her daughter Arianna, who was born with omphalocele.
Through Taylor McKay and the Golden O’s, Dedral created a story about courage, friendship, belonging, and learning to see differences as part of who we are—not as something that limits who we can become. At the heart of her work is a simple belief: different does not mean less.
Omphalocele Hill began with a deeply personal inspiration, but its message reaches far beyond one diagnosis. The series was created for children who have ever felt different, left out, uncertain, or asked themselves, “Why me?”
Through fantasy and adventure, Dedral hopes young readers see that the things that make them different can become part of their strength, their story, and the person they are still becoming.
Dedral is also the founder of Palm & Bird Press, an independent publishing imprint created to bring meaningful, imaginative stories into the world.
